"Flourish" is a wave of the hand with a brush in tow to create a record of the paths of energy driving the life. This is the first in the series utilizing the colors of purple, orange and yellow.
The art was created by applying a layer of gesso onto a canvas surface and then brushing in the acrylic colors directly from the tube into the gesso before the gesso dried. This drying process is like a ticking time bomb, demanding a type of finger painting process learned in kindergarten. Perhaps that is why I enjoy the experience, the heady and scary feeling of freedom and lack of control, or perhaps the giving into a type of subconscious control. It is certainly a style whose speed demands that the ego stand aside and only jump in where needed to complete a motion not yet fully understood by the emotions.
This artwork was painted on stretched canvas with sides painted black. It is wired and ready to hang without a frame. However, the purchaser can choose to have it framed easily on a budget as the 8x10 size is a standard one with local art stores offering many options.
